Chose Kronenbourg today to give the French section of the BotF Beer List a little bit of a boost. Was troubled to find that instead of being brewed in France, this historic lager is in fact brewed by Fosters in Melbourne under licence from Brasseries Kronenbourg.
What’s even worse is that the French brewed version from Strasbourg has an alcohol strength of 5.9%, whereas the Australian version is a paltry 5%. When you use a 330ml bottle that’s vital. Taste is fine – bog standard Euro lager.
So – what’s the verdict? Is this an Australian beer or a French beer? Also not too sure about the use of hops extract and colour.
You’ll note the strategic blocking of the Oprah “O” on the bridge in today’s beer porn.
Love the strategic blocking of the “O”. Well done lads. Well played.
