I actually like Outlet Malls. I will go out of my way to visit one, when travelling because I can’t stand paying top dollar for clothes. Others can find it an excruciating experience, but maybe there’s now some relief.
When visiting Adelaide’s Harbour Town Outlets before returning our hire car – I encountered something new in an Outlet Experience. A dedicated Craft Beer and Pizza place in an outlet mall.

We were on an extremely tight timeframe and I was unable to do the Sweet Amber Beer & Pizza any justice. One sculled Schooner (that’s what they call a middy in SA) of Bitter Amber and that was it.
Bitter Amber Ale
Turns out that the Sweet Amber has two outlets (Semaphore and Harbour Town), and makes some pretty serious beers (and probably pizza). They have 4 standards – a Blonde, an Amber, a 7.2% Coffee Stout and an IPA. I would love to have a crack at their seasonal IIPA – a beefy 8.2%. I hope to visit Adelaide again soon. With the airport lounge shut – this might be the right diversion. Couple of bargains and a couple of schooners, then off to the airport (4 minute drive).
