I haven’t paid a cover charge in years. What is a cover charge? That’s how long ago it is. Well, just got hit up for one, but it was worth it.
After a day of experiencing Kuala Lumpur’s temples, caves and historic sites in 33 degree heat with 80% humidity I was parched. I’m not a nightclub person and the Heli Lounge Bar felt incompatible with me. But when it is suddenly 500m from the barbecue pork restaurant you are in – what the hell.

Cliche tourist shot
It is an unassuming entrance. An 80s lift well with no indication of what you are about to experience. I arrived at 6pm. Up to the 34th floor. “Reservation sir”. “No”. “50RM sir”. “Hmmm, OK”. “You get a Tiger with that”. I get my Tiger and wonder what next.

Helpful signage when drinking on a Helipad
Four flights of stairs later – wow. A cool breeze and an amazing 360 degree view. All punters get the same perspective even though everything is reserved on the outside. Petronas Towers and all the other towers. It is a really chilled place. Dress code heats up at 9pm, but I reckon at 6pm there would be few better places in KL to have a beer.
