Cricketers Arms Lager – taste doesn’t match the looks + Ferry good news

Lured by a rarely seen price for a 6 pack of full strength beer, BotF latched on to this attractively packaged beer. Cricketers Arms Lager is brewed by Sundance Brewing International and is available on tap at a limited range of pubs in Melbourne and one pub in Sydney and in stubbies at a number of large bottleshop chains. I tried really hard to like this beer, but found it difficult to get excited by it.

Beer label hyperbole claimed citrus character, but the beer simply lacked any character. Totally potable, and would be ideal ice-cold at the cricket, but the packaging and bottle-top in particular are the defining characteristic of this beer.

Two of the BotF founders enjoyed a post Melbourne Cup trip home on Tuesday. We were pleased to notice a fresh paint job for the Back of the Ferry. We were even more pleased to note a distinct absence of particular signage. It would be a shame to tarnish such good paintwork with unnecessary and unsightly stickers.

Further, BotF would like to congratulate BotF member Andrew who welcomed the birth of his 3rd daughter and fourth child on 31 October. Linda and baby Phoebe are doing well and well done you all.
