The South Perth ferry and Ogden’s Brewery

The South Perth ferry is no Manly Ferry. A seven minute trip and no Back of the Ferry upon which to enjoy a beverage.

On the upside, there’s a great view of the Perth CBD from the banks of the Swan next to the Mends Street Jetty and it is a three minute walk to the Windsor Hotel.

The Windsor Hotel (or Hotel Windsor) is a classic, majestic pub, the type of which are common place in Perth and Fremantle. Two or three story pubs that wrap around a corner with imposing verandas and high ceilings – they are magnificent.

In addition to being a fine looking joint, the Windsor Hotel is the home of Ogden’s Brewery. Since 2018, Ogden’s has been making some fine beers onsite. Always on is a lager and a pale (Oggie’s Pale), but they do seasonals as well.

They’ve done 21 beers over the journey (at least that’s what Untappd says), and yesterday Ogden’s were serving a ripper. BotF loves a red ale and Red Ranga was a fine example of the style. More malt than an old school Moove Vanilla Malt – this was exceptional. Well worth the visit.
