A favourite event of my year is to head down to Bucketty’s in Brookvale to support the annual Tawny Grogmouth fundraiser for the Sydney Wildlife Rescue. It is a pretty simple formula, Bucketty’s brew a beer, Brentos designs a can and a t-shirt and Liam brings in the punters – and there’s few raffles as well.

Each year the beer is different and this year’s beer is an NZ Pilsner, and it a very hop forward number. $5 from each pint supports the cause, which is very generous. And the Brentos can design this year is quite beautiful. I have the OG shirt which was a very colourful design. This year’s design, as you can see has a restricted palate of of yellows, oranges and fauns and is his best yet for mine. You know the old saying – I don’t much about art, but I know what I like.

Before the raffle draw, Liam said a few words and remarked that it was almost four years to the day that first ever issue of Tawny Frogmouth was dropped into mailboxes around the Northern Beaches. Four years later he and the Tawny are still going strong. Goodonya, Liam

Pulitzer winning article for sure!!
