Vale Burnley Brewing and unnecessary @Untappd erasure

In one of many WhatsApp groups that I’m in, we talk a lot about beers and breweries and unfortunately one of us will post a weekly post about another closed brewery. As always, Crafty Pint has the story, which you can read here, but this week’s brewery was a surprise for mine – but really nothing should be a surprise any more in this industry. I’d frequented Burnley Brewing a number of times particularly with members #78, #99 and #103.

I had a memorable visit in July 2020, just COVID was really taking hold. It was the real deal. The full gamut of beers and big open space, good food and great. I’d like to reminisce about the Burnley Brewing beers that I had, but I’ve just noticed a brutal move from Untappd in relation to closed breweries.

Not only do they note that the brewery is “No longer in business”, but they’ve deleted the Burnley Brewing beer list as well. A quick check of Deeds Brewing and Henry St (other recent casualties) reveals that their beer lists have also been removed. I just don’t get this. Burnley hasn’t even closed its doors yet – but that’s it – they are gone. The beers exist if you search for a beer, but to erase their beer list to me is excessive. I can only think that Untappd is a creditor and this is revenge. I’ll be making enquiries of Untappd to find out what is going on.

In the mean time – Vale Burnley Brewing. We feel for you.

PS member #99 went down to grab some advertised bargains, but the vultures had swooped very early.
