It is wonderful to be back in Siem Reap after almost 10 years. I am visiting an old friend from university days, who has moved to Siem Reap with his wife to run a volunteering business. They’ve leased a guest house and it has only been open 3 days. Whilst they are delighted to see me, they’ve politely asked that I make myself scarce until this evening.

One of my favourite places when I visited last time was the Foreign Correspondents Club and fortuitously it isn’t far from Pat’s guesthouse. Looking back at my photos from 2014, it looks like they made some renovations and for the better. I love at-the-bar drinking and this one’s a ripper with fans helping with the stifling heat.

I was delighted to see that the tap beer on offer comes from Kingdom Brewing, a brewery based in Phnom Penh, which I visited on the last trip. 10 years later they are still going strong and have added to their range. Regrettably the Mango IPA wasn’t on, but the Pilsner is good. It looks like the beer scene in Siem Reap has developed which is good. Pub Street will no doubt be the same, but there’s a brewpub that does trivia. Happy days.
