Jervis Bay – craft beer central

Big things coming in 2021…

The craft beer revolution shows no signs of abating. Craft Beer Reviewer has published 25 Brewery Lists and I don’t think the total number has ever gone backwards. 740 breweries at last count and apparently there’s 170 new breweries in the works.

One of the really great trends is the growth in regional breweries. A couple of recent trips down the South Coast revealed how strong this trend is. 10 years ago, who would thought you could find two breweries in Jervis Bay.

Galah beers

Flamin’ Galah Brewing Co. was established in 2018. As I write this blog (6 months after visiting and starting to write!) Flamin’ Galah is transforming selling takeaway from a shed to having a fully blown taproom. Follow the progress on Insta (@flamin_galahbrewingco) – it looks like it will be fantastic. Not shy of bold colours on their cans and their livery – should be great. (April 2021 opening)

10 taps of loveliness

That’ll mean there will be 2 taprooms in the Huskisson area. Jervis Bay Brewing Co have been running a 10 tap taproom for some time now. And they are doing everything right. Plenty of effort has gone to making it family friendly. There’s plenty of covered and uncovered space. All bases are covered – tasting paddles, rotating food options, board games and great merch.

The beers are good. The range is diverse without being extreme. Always love to see a Dunkelweizen on the list. The takeaway cans look good. The locals seem to love the joint. I was there for opening, and by the time I’d the punters were pouring in. Great to see. Worthy of a repeat visit to the region.
