BotF drank a case of these in Mexico,and also tried the other version of Dos Equis – Amber. Dos Equis Lager is a pretty crisp European style beer. One never knows what has happened over time with the taste of a beer – but given that Dos Equis was originally brewed by a German, it probably hasn’t strayed too far. Things have almost turned full circle and Dos Equis is now owned by Heineken International, Germany’s neighbour.
Dos Equis means 2 Xs – not because Mexicans spell beer more briefly than Queenslanders – but because the beer was originally named “Siglo XX” or 20th Century, to celebrate the commencement of the 20th Century. As the 20th century became more progressed – the beer became Dos Equis – 2 Xs.
