Beijing Bar duck broken at King’s Bar

First task for BotF was to check out some jewellery for Mrs BotF and fortification was required. I popped into an old stamping ground – King’s Bar in Shunyi. This is an expats bar run by a Kiwi called Wayne King. I kid you not.

The chalkboard is always updated with the week’s rugby union, rugby league and AFL action. I’ve met Kingy on a number of occasions. He is a teacher that has been in Beijing for yonks and thought that running a bar would be an interesting sideline. I always preferred the Pomme because of the proximity, and there always seemed to be more people. Kings Bar comes into its own however when there is a footy game on, as Kingy will throttle his staff if they can’t work out one of the 6 plasmas in the joint. I’ll possibly be there for the ‘Tahs flogging by the Stormers on Sunday night.
