I punched out a few of these at the previously mentioned Dos Caminos. Therefore anything I state here is not to be trusted. Described as a “Munich style Dunkel beer” these slid down easily and were thick and tasty for a Mexican beer. I am pretty certain I tried it’s blond sister, Modelo Especial, but I have no evidence.

I love the Negra Modelo. I wish Montezumas at Manly would pick it’s act up and import some of it. Would make the experience so much better.
Probably my favourite Mexican beer. We got onto these a few years ago while in Mexico. We were staying in Mazatlan with friends (Mazatlan is where the Pacifico is made) and the Pacifico was a favourite of many of the locals, along with Negra. I don’t mind it but am a bit against the Fosters version now hitting all the fad-Mexican bars and pubs popping up everywhere. Negra Modelo is definitely where it’s at. We tried the tins of it there too, as well as the Especial too,. Mmmm. Back to Pacifico for a minute (I also had a look at the post on that one), there is only one way to drink it if you ask me – the local made version, from a Ballena 😉
