So we’ve already got the Brookvale Arts District and whatever the name is for the Felons Complex (Felon’s World?) – and now we have the Manly Pavilion Precinct. The Espy has been around for awhile and the Manly Pavilion is a staple – but I guess when you add a third venue, you can become a Precinct.

The newest member of the Precinct is Las Plamas Bar & Taqueria, which is on the site of the old Manly Waterworks that was demolished last year. It is a surprisingly big space and it can really take a crowd. They’ve created a fun atmosphere that feels beachy even though you can’t see the water from the venue.

The food menu is very straightforward and has Mexican staples like guacamole, nachos cerviche and churros. Given I was in a Taqueria – I tried the Gobernador Tacos. Bloody good. Plump prawns are accompanied by chunks of avocado, red onion, cheese and chipotle cheese crema. Good size and good value.

Not surprisingly the drinks menu is cocktail heavy with Margaritas dominant. They’ve also partnered with Balter to brew an in-house Mexican lager called Dolcita, which is perfectly potable.

I live 300m walk from the Manly Pavilion Precinct. That’s dangerous.
