Quantum Brewery – a small quantity of beer excellence in Moruya

A relative newcomer to the South Coast Ale Trail is Quantum Brewery, Moruya. This great little place has been created in a Cheese Factory that was built in the 1930s and is co-located with a cafe and a heritage room full of artefacts and memorabilia. It is truly unique.

It is a place that is well worth hunting down and spending time in. I had some pretty good beers on this trip as the Moruya IGA and the Batesman Bay Dan a Murphy’s stock a few excellent South Coast crafties, but the best of everything I had was had at Quantum.

It is a tight list. According to Untappd they’ve only brewed six beers on the journey. and all were available on this visit. There’s a mid-strength wheat, a mid strength lager, a Pilsner, a dark lager, a stout and a pale. BotF’s co-founder was also on tour and was driving so he sampled the wheat – the eponymous Finn Witbier.

The Columbus Pale is an absolute belter – rich in malts and flavour. Just a stunning beer and one I will return to on my next visit to Quantum. The Tisha Stout was an excellent follow-up. It was f$&king cold in Moruya and this boozy 8%er really #knitsabeervest™.
