Mountain Culture Redfern and @Adrian_eats2much

Back of the Ferry is a little bit proud of the little niche we’ve cut ourselves in the internet of things and on socials as Australia’s longest running beer blog. On the weekend I caught up with an old workmate that has taken his passion of eating to a large and growing audience of which we can only dream. We were in the presence of a master of the genre.

Adrian_Eats2Much is the Instagram account of Adrian (Inductee #77) that has amassed almost 9,000 followers since he created the account in 2013. 780 posts later he has taken his viewers on culinary journeys to restaurants and bars in Sydney and occasionally across the world. He is being sought after by establishments to provide a review and I was lucky to be invited as guest to his sponsored visit to Mountain Culture’s Redfern outlet.

Last year, Mountain Culture opportunistically took over the abruptly vacated Atomic Redfern site on Regent Street. Mountain Culture maybe the closest brewery to one of Sydney’s new(ish) Metro Stations being only 400m from Waterloo. Batch Brewing may want to have something to say about and its proximity to Sydenham Metro, but it is a close run thing.

The thing that amazes me about Mountain Culture is not their impressive record of winning the most popular craft beer in the GABS Hottest 100 for three years running, despite only releasing their first beer commercially in 2019. It is their record of producing 519 unique beers (according to Untappd – there could be more) since releasing their first beer commercially in 2019. That is an insane number.

Seven core beers on tap and nine limited release beers on tap. Absolute heaven.

I got a real insight into the ways of a real influencer. Adrian had the veritable bag of tricks – a turntable to display beers (and food), a light bank, microphones and a funky phone with things coming out of it. (I’m not the most technological bloke).

Hopefully this link will take you through to the final reel on Instagram. Back of the Ferry’s first collaboration with an influencer. Hyperbole is a stock in trade of an influencer and Adrian was most generous in describing Back of the Ferry as “one of the most influential beer blogs”. If only!

Mountain Culture Redfern is well the visit. The food is excellent. The pickles are a real stand-out and the burgers are great. For me, the opportunity to try some of the fantastic limited releases is the real attraction and if I get the opportunity to spend time with Adrian_Eats2Much – well happy days. Hopefully not our last collaboration.
