Mr Liquor’s Circular Quay outlet is obviously the go-to bottlo for back of the ferry drinkers, given its marvellous proximity and generally good attention to regularly restocking and ensuring that the beer is cold.
But if you have to walk from beyond Hunter Street to Wharf 3, there’s another option with far more variety than good old Mr Liquor.

The Red Bottle chain is a family owned and independent. They took over the Australian Wine (aka Wino) Company on Pitt Street, but the Hunter Street branch takes its beer very seriously. Plenty of single can options of Mountain Culture amongst others.

To give you a sense of the variety, I had this little end of the working week trio.
Fontaine Draught – a Kölsch style beer from Beer Fontaine in Botany.

Krenglbach – a limited edition lager from Spotty Dog Brewery, an exceptional brewery and tap house in Hobart. Click on the link to read the back story to this beer.

Slake – a collaboration between two of BotF’s favourite brewers – Good Folk from Newcastle and Capital Brewing from Canberra.
So spice up the occasional voyage home with a visit to Red Bottle’s beer fridge.
