Kicks Brewing – Marrickville delivers again

My daughter showed impeccable taste by arranging lunch at the Lucky Prawn in the Bob Hawke Beer & Leisure Centre for the meet the future in-laws event. And considerately she made the booking for 1pm giving her dear old Dad a chance to visit a previously untried brewery.

Member #116 has given big wraps on Kicks Brewing. No surprise when you scan down the list of the 91 beers. #116 loves his IPAs and NEIPAs big, and the majority of Kicks Brewing’s fit that description. On the day I visited there were two IPAs (including a DIPA). The Twice Bitten Hazy IPA at 7.7% was an outstanding beer, which I had after its neighbour – Once Bitten Hazy Pale.

But for mine the standout was Uncle Keith’s Best Bitter. A copper coloured beer full of malty loveliness that I could drink all day. The German Pils was also very good.

I was disappointed not to try something from Jeery’s Khmer Gourmet Rotis, a food combination I hadn’t seen before, but you never leave hungry from the Lucky Prawn. Next time, not that I need an excuse to return to the Glorious Inner West™ and the breweries of Marrickville.
