Felons Manly has taken over the Manly Wharf Hotel site – and boy o boy – have they shaken things up!

In the days of the Manly Wharf Bar the public walkway between the indoor pub and the wharf pub was like a demilitarised zone. If you even thought about trying to sneak a schooner across you were quickly apprehended and sent on your way.

That is no longer the case with the Felons makeover. There’s now less public walkway and more bar with an incredible number of seats and benches occupying the walkway between Queen Chow and the entrance to the pub near the Office. No dramas to walk between any of the Felons Manly World.

Whilst I am no longer a rate payer these days, I hope the public is getting an earn on the public space now occupied by Felons.

All the tap beer comes from Felons in Brisbane (until the brewery in the old Aldi opens up). I reckon that is gutsy even if the beers for the most part are pretty accessible. Crisp Lager, Japanese Rice Lager, Mid Crush, Australian Pale Ale etc. The only bottled/canned beer is of the non-alcoholic variety.

In addition to the tap beer are a number of tap cocktails and seltzers. it is an el primo location and the Felons crew would have paid top dollar, so they need to make an earn, but the prices are steep. On a Sunday, I paid $20.50 for a pint of 6.8% IPA. Yep – Sunday surcharge, but still – might be a Manly record.
