Mandy – Induction #159

Some more Kiwi inductions on a glorious late afternoon in Sydney. Except our first inductee is actually an Orstrayan. Mandy and I go a looong way back for many reasons, but my fondest memories are of working with Mandy at the Station Hotel and the Station Tavern in the 80s. I regaled her son (next post) with stories of epic nights dealing with the building workers and public servants of North Sydney when the responsible service of alcohol was not really a thing. I’ll never forget Mandy trying to break up a brawl between Pacific Islanders that rivalled the Milperra Massacre. I was cowering under the bar calling 000 “Yes – we need at least three ambulances…”. Fun times.

These days Mandy leads a bucolic life amongst the green pastures of the Waikato.
