After my visit to Brewdog, Saturday week ago, I paid a quick visit to Atomic Beer Project. I’ve been a few times over the years, and it is a particular favourite of daughter number #3 (also known as inductee #103). Little did I know that a schooner of Talusdega Nights NEIPA would be my last beer at Atomic.

Nothing should be a surprise any more when it comes to craft beer breweries or venues shutting down these days – but I was a little taken aback. On a Saturday arvo there was a healthy crowd eating, drinking and generally being merry. Atomic was also part of the Gage Roads “Good Drinks” (ASX: GDA) stable, which has other brands like Matso’s and Riders, as well as Gage Roads obviously. It’s a tough time in the alcoholic beverages game as evidenced by the GDA share price.

So best to remember the good times of Atomic. They made really good beer, in my humble opinion. The Atomic brand preceded the Redfern venue. #2 had an Atomic Pale Ale on his back deck in 2012, and we knocked off a few on the Back of the Ferry. Their trivia night on a Monday was always good value. Valé Atomic.
