24/7 drinking in Siem Reap

After a solid session with my good friend Patrick in town we were riding home in a tuk-tuk. Pat pointed out “Duckmart”, which looked like a convenience store but is actually a 24/7 bar, pool hall and convenience store. I said “we have to have one”, but Pat’s a responsible person these days and needed to be up early – so he threw me out of the tuk-tuk and said “I’ll leave the door open”.

I did just have one that evening, but returned the next day to get a better perspective on the joint. It is quite a big place with at least two pool tables. Nagui from Siem Reap Craft Brewery confessed that he has spent a few late nights there.

The fridges are well stocked with quite a collection of Cambodian macros like Hanuman, GanzBerg, Anchor, Angkor and Cambodia, as well as a couple of craft beers including one from Stone Head, which has just opened a Tap Toom in Phnom Penh. I love the service of ice cold glasses here.

It turns out that there’s no shortage of 24/7 places in Siem Reap. I paid a quick visit to the Draft Bar, which regrettably didn’t have draughty beer. For mine, though, DuckMart is the place. They really need to merch up – I’d buy that shirt.
