Siem Reap Craft Brewery – but not for long

I enjoyed one of my more intimate craft beer experiences at the tiny Siem Reap Craft Brewery. I was able to sample almost all their beers whilst chatting away to the very friendly brewer.

Siem Reap Craft Brewery opened in 2023, and it is tiny. It is operated by Nagui, who is French and whom I met and his partner Malis. They’ll be changing their name shortly to Krama Brewing, which is a cracking name. Krama is a multi-purpose scarf worn by all Cambodians, and I foresee unique merch opportunities down the track.

Nagui is a cracking brewer. He took me through a “degustation” of his beers. Summer Blond is light as a feather and would be a fabulous outdoor drinking beer in the oppressive Siem Reap heat.

He really hits his straps with his IPAs. The Khmer IPA is a copper coloured masterpiece with a solid malt backbone and plenty of hoppy bite. His standout though is his Black IPA. A beautiful jet black beer with some coffee edge and glorious bitterness. Nagui generously upped the size of my glass for the last beer of my five beer session.

Siem Reap Craft Brewery comes up in Google Maps, but doesn’t come in Grab. Get Grab to take you to Prana, which is just across the road. Contrary to many places Siem Reap Craft Brewery shuts at 5pm, when most places open.

UPDATE

So hot off the press Krama Craft Brewery is out and proud with its new name. Yesterday, I attended a Cambodian craft beer competition (for another post) – and Krama entered a red IPA. High quality field with breweries from Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Kampot represented. I love the new name.
