I loved Chubb’s at Brookvale. I also enjoyed the Chubb’s outlet at Manly, but I really liked the original. The frozen beer glasses and the fried chicken were the perfect accompaniment to a session of sport spectating. Abruptly in February, it shut.

I am pleased to advise that Chubb’s is back and back with some size. Importantly the fried chicken is back. The space at 79 Winbourne Road is cavernous and there is a ton of mezzanine seating as well as plenty of room downstairs. The very long bar has 15 taps and I love the presence of the Nomads Brookie Draught and Pilsner. For @Untappd unique hunters two Evil Twin beers are available. The Summer Fridays hazy IPA is a delight.

The kitchen is big and the menu is pretty much what used to be in the old Chubb’s. The $70 barbecue platter for two is great. I’d love to see the cheese kransky as a stand alone menu item.

I’m sure that there’ll more televisions to come and I wonder whether they’ll take advantage of an expansive back yard. It is great to see Chubb’s back in its spiritual home of Brookvale. You just can’t have enough places to go in Brookvale!
