Back of the Ferry blogposts tend to become more plentiful when your correspondents are overseas and both illiards and I are in Europe for almost a month. Rather than write short stories, I think I’ll post vignettes.
The trip from Australia to Europe is always tough. And by the time I got through a surprisingly inefficient customs and luggage process, I was fanging for a beer.

Fortuitously, and where else, Munich Airport is home to the world’s largest brewery in an airport. The inside was shut, but plenty of punters were enjoying a beer in the sun in the biergarten. My first beer had to be a wheat beer. The Kumulus Wheat is a cracker and at $6.11 for half a litre – I can tell I’m going to like Germany. (And take note Bavarian Bier Cafe).

First impressions. Yes it is OktoberFest season, but people are walking around the airport in leiderhosen and the whole schebang. No shortage of blokes punching out litre steins. And smoking is pretty popular.
