Recently BotF tried White Rabbit’s new addition – White Ale. As mentioned before, white beer isn’t this reviewer’s favourite tipple. Heaven is a stubbie or schooner full of something dark. The first White Rabbit beer introduced to the market was their Dark Ale, and this is more to my liking. Many dark beers have a roasted or chocolate flavour, but White Rabbit Dark Ale is distinctively hoppy and not in a bad way at all. This is definitely one to try from a brewer that is part of the Little Creatures family, albeit on their own premises in the Yarra Valley. Website craps on a little, but there is clearly passion behind the brewing – with open fermentation being the method.
The BotF has suddenly become inundated with tourists again, as we barrel headlong through spring. The upstairs veranda bar is the favoured spot for the tourists with cameras and it can get quite manic up there. BotF members are viewed generally with smiles, though some abstemious gent was giving us the evil eye on Friday – but we simply ignored him. There’s definitely a number of shots of the BotF boys in plenty of tourists albums. Schauen Sie auf diese fröhlichen Männer!
