For the second time in a couple of weeks, the BotF was graced with the presence of the formerly prodigious BotF contributor Will. Will has taken to riding his bike to the ferry from Warringah Mall heights, which means he is now able to re-join BotF. Tonight was a spectacular evening and a complete contrast to the wild night “enjoyed” yesterday. A classic night for the photographers and the 6pm journey will be el primo for sunset shots for the next month.
The tipple for the journey was a rather posh beer produced by another winery dabbling in a brew. The Knappstein Enterprise Winery and Brewery is located in the Clare Valley and since 2006, they’ve been brewing this Reserve Lager. To their credit – that’s all they’ve done in respect of brewing and they do one beer bloody well. The website gives a good history of how there was a brewery on site in the 1800’s.
This is a very tart, sharp beer, but not in an unpleasant way. They’ve also compensated for the increasingly ubiquitous, yet no less annoying 330ml bottle with a punchy alcohol content of 5.6%. Being predominantly a winery, the website also provides extensive tasting notes on the beer – which are a little OTT for BotF – but that shouldn’t stop you having a lash. An excellent bevvy to take to a BYO restaurant when you don’t feel like a vino – but still want to look classy.
