Harts – Half Pint Heaven

An old favourite of BotF – pre BotF days was Harts Pub. This was a place that could have had everything wrong with it – a faux English Bar owned by a Japanese Hotel chain. Despite that obvious handicap, it actually worked and was a reliable purveyor of decent beers in pints in good surrounds. The last time BotF tried to gain entry, when the BotF Bar Review Map was in full swing – Harts was closed.

Well, Harts is open again, and it has opened with a flourish and all I can say is get your arse down there. This is a unique proposition which should be supported. 12 beers on tap that I guarantee is in a line-up that you won’t find anywhere else. If we hadn’t had a ferry to catch, we would have had a crack at the dozen – but maybe next time.

Harts Pub has become the home of the Rocks Brewing Company, and according the barmaid, has been open for 4 months. The 12 beers on tap include its own range of 4 beers- including the evocatively named Sail and Mermaid Bitter, some doyens of the micro beer scene – including Stone & Wood- and some that Mick and I have never seen – including Prickly Moses Otway Ale.

The re-opened Harts Pub is definitely deserving of your patronage, and I look forward to a BotF evening, where we nail the 12 offerings by way of half pints. Bar of the Year.
