Boxing Day ’09 was begun in the best way possible.
After the usual indulgences conveyed by the big red man the previous day, 4 flatulent, bloated, and family weary lads assembled at the beach to flush away the toxins of the year that was. Nothing a salt enema cannot cure. BAM & the dirt is gone!
The shores of Curly were a windblown mess, and it was 8-Cans who was quick to point out that the Manly stretch would be sheltered and virtually off-shore in the gusty Sou-Easter.
And so it was that the lads crossed the hill to North Steyne where a great – close to mirrored 2.5 to 3 foot of those typical well banked Manly waves greeted the lads.
8-Cans seemed to make it his day, not for his deeds in the water but for those out of it….HIS call to get to Steyne, and HIS error in leaving his leggie at home, having detached it prior to getting his board repaired at Weapon. All things considered he did well in controlling his vehicle, losing it for the long swim in just the once. No indiscretions in the surf, through careful wave choice and management, including his technique of abandoning a ride to draw his stead in close if he foresaw disaster ahead.
The lads wound up ’09 with a Big Issues breakfast in the drizzling conditions at Jellyfish Café.
