Nestled between two Pakistani tandoor joints is a relative newcomer to the burgeoning Glorious Inner West™ craft beer taproom scene. Hopsters Co-Operative Brewery boasts that it is “A DEMOCRATICALLY RUN, MEMBER-OWNED AND OPERATED COOPERATIVE”.
Normally I’m not fussed about nearby food options when it comes to taprooms and breweries, but I’ll make an exception here. Firstly, Hopsters doesn’t have a kitchen, so they welcome BYO takeaway. Secondly, Faheem’s lemon and garlic tandoor chicken was simply out of this world. Next time I’ll give Shaahi’s a go – but Pakistani tandoor is just superb.
Hopsters came about in 2017. The taproom is the result of long labour of love to convert a old fruit shop. Poor buggers opened the taproom in March 2020 – but they’ve pushed through and seem to developing nicely. The long game is to brew their beer on site, but currently they are contract brewing their “Founders Range” of Pale and IPA. The 12 taps have a rotating and eclectic selection of crafties. Love getting Capital on tap in Sydney.
Very keen to get back to this joint. Nothing better than drinking on a street front watching the world go by.
